NNIPA felicitate players
JAN 02 - Nepal National and International Player's Association (NNIPA) felicitated players from different sports for their excellent performance throughout the year at a programme on Friday.
Keshari Chaudhary bagged the award for athletics. Prem Prasad Pun, Bipendra Maharjan and Bikash Shrestha got the award for archery, basketball and badminton respectively.
Boxer Dinesh Shrestha, cricketer Mehboob Alam, cyclist Sajan Shrestha, footballer Anil Gurung, swimmer Karishma Karki and golfer Rupak Acharya were also felicitated. Manish Hamal received the award for his splendid year in chess.
In martial art, Birendra Oli, Shanti Tamang, Sunita Magar, Subhadra Shrestha and Bhuvan Shrestha received the award for full-contact karate, ITF-taekwondo, judo, karate and Ushu respectively.
The other players to get the NNIPA award were: Aman Shrestha for gymnastics, Bibek K.C. for handball, Rajendra Kumar Singh for kho-kho, Dambar Bahadur Baduwal for kabaddi, Preeti Rijal for lawn tennis, Bhawana Sunuwar for squash, Saroj Kumar Mulmi for snooker, Bijay Karki for shooting, Sonu Gupta for table tennis, Im Bahadur Magar
for volleyball, Muktar Alam
for wrestling and Kamal Bahadur Adhikari for weightlifting.
Players selected to represent Nepal at the 11th South Asian Games were present at the
programme. Constitutional Assembly members Gagan Thapa and Raj Kaji Shrestha and National Sports Council Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary graced the ceremony as well.
